Caramel Vienna (caravienne) is not synonymous with Vienna malt; it is a light crystal malt with slight toffee flavor characteristics. It is often used by Belgian breweries in the production of ales and trappist-style beers. However, it can be used in any recipe that calls for crystal malt. A light Belgian crystal malt, often used in the production of Belgian ales and Abbey-style ales.
